Arcadia Minerals Limited (ASX: AM7, FRA: 8OH) has announced the appointment of Eugene Barrington Coetzee as project manager to oversee the construction of the Swanson Tantalum Mine. Coetzee brings a wealth of experience in the mining industry, particularly in building, operating and maintaining processing plants.
Rich experience of Coetzee
Eugene Barrington Coetzee began his career in 1989 at De Beers Consolidated Mines as an engineering boilermaker. During his tenure at De Beers and a subsequent six-year period at Black Mountain Mine, Coetzee played a crucial role in the construction and operation of various plants.
In 2003, he joined Northern Platinum Mine at its BMR smelter and concentration plant as a boilermaker engineer. Here, Coetzee gained extensive experience in the operation, construction, and maintenance of concentrator plants.
Coetzee has held several leadership roles in constructing and operating multiple plants since 2008-
- In Zambia, he was a boilermaker supervisor at an acid plant.
- At a Paladin uranium mine, he held the position of supply chain manager and engineering co-ordinator.
- He worked at many copper mines, such as the Tschudi Copper and Dundee Precious Metals mines, as mechanical and logistics supervisor and workshop manager.
- At the Marampa Iron Ore mine, he served as mechanical supervisor and acting superintendent.
In 2009, Coetzee gained significant experience in the production of tantalum concentrate at the African Highlands Morroppino Tantalum Mine in Mozambique. Before joining Arcadia Minerals, he served as the mechanical supervisor and later as the construction manager at Moxico Resources’ Mimbula Minerals operation in Zambia.

Coetzee has been appointed initially for 12 months with a base station at ML 223, where the Swanson Mine will be constructed. His duties involve managing and overseeing all aspects of the mine construction including project execution, strategic planning, commissioning and production.
After completing the initial term, once the mine reaches production stage, he is expected to continue with AM7 as the mine manager.
