Altech Batteries Limited (ASX:ATC, FRA:A3Y) has obtained BimSch-G approval, an environmental and construction permit, for its Germany-based 120 MWh CERENERGY® GridPack production facility. This approval enables the company’s joint venture subsidiary, Altech Batteries GmbH (ABG), to initiate site clearing and construction, subject to project financing.
Strategic Progress in Project Development
In September 2023, an application for a permit and license was submitted by Altech, together with its engineering subcontractor LEADEC, balance-of-plant subcontractor ARIKON and architecture for the proposed construction and operation of the 120 MWh CERENERGY® battery project. In Germany, the approval process for such projects is based on the environmental impacts, with the majority of the projects requiring federal authorisation under the German Federal Immission Control Act (BimSchG).
To ensure a seamless execution, Altech aligned the permit and licensing process with its Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS). This proactive approach has prevented potential delays, positioning the project for a swift transition to construction once financing is secured.
With environmental and construction approval now in place, financial institutions are expected to have greater confidence in the project.
