Pakistan strikes back after accusations of Indian missile fires

Investing.com -- The long-standing dispute between India and Pakistan has seen an alarming escalation in recent days, with multiple attacks being carried out on both sides. The hostile exchanges signal rising tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbors over the disputed territory of Kashmir.

According to a statement by Pakistan’s military, the South Asian nation recently carried out retaliatory strikes in response to what they called "continuous provocation" by India. Pakistan’s military reported that India had fired missiles at three of its airbases, sparking their counteroffensive.

The strike, carried out using medium-range Fateh missiles, was directed at over 25 military sites, reportedly including airbases, weapon depots in various Indian states such as Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, and also certain locations in the contentious region of Kashmir, administered by India.

The Indian military, in their response, condemned what they referred to as Pakistan’s "blatant escalation". They claimed the attacks, which included drone strikes along their western border, were swiftly "engaged and destroyed" by their air defenses.

Added tension arose during the early hours of Saturday when Pakistan initiated a military operation against various bases and a missile storage site in northern India.

India also warned of possible aggression from Pakistan notable alleged troop movement along the border. An Indian military spokesperson stated that such activity indicated "offensive intent" on Pakistan’s part, intensifying the volatile situation.

Reacting to this, India has declared high operational readiness and its commitment to "non-escalation", conditioned on a similar response from Pakistan’s military.

Pakistan’s foreign minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, in a recent interview, noted that Pakistan would consider halting their offensive if India reciprocated the action.
