Unico Silver identifies a second mineralised zone southeast of La Morocha
Cerro Puntungo tenement now fully consolidated under Unico’s control
Drilling results reinforce scale of the Joaquin Project in Argentina
Unico Silver Ltd (ASX:USL), listed on the ASX 300, continues to expand its presence in the Latin American silver exploration landscape with its latest discovery at the Joaquin Project in Argentina. The company’s recent drilling initiative has revealed another mineralised zone southeast of the La Morocha deposit, enhancing the footprint of the system.
This follows an earlier find reported within the La Negra southeast extension, with both discoveries made in the same month. The new zone highlights the geological significance of the broader Cerro Puntungo region, which Unico has fully consolidated, enabling consistent exploration efforts across historically fragmented tenements.
Drilling Campaign Expands Mineralisation Footprint
The latest drilling program involved three completed holes targeting the southeast extensions of the La Morocha structure. Assay results have returned high-grade intervals from two of the three holes, signalling continuity and further extension of mineralisation at depth and along strike.
The results demonstrate that mineralisation extends beyond the previously defined 2013 foreign estimate boundaries, directly into underexplored zones of Cerro Puntungo. This area had been overlooked in prior campaigns due to multiple ownerships but is now emerging as a new frontier for silver exploration under Unico’s leadership.
Joaquin Project Positioned for Further Growth
With assays still pending for several drill holes and two new discoveries already confirmed, Unico has signalled a shift in focus toward broader resource expansion efforts. The Joaquin Project covers a large continuous land package, comprising multiple deposits including La Negra and La Morocha, and remains central to the company’s strategic roadmap.
These developments come ahead of a scheduled mineral resource estimate expected later in the year. Meanwhile, ongoing drilling activities continue to test extensions and identify new mineralised corridors across the tenure.
Cerro Leon Project Remains Core to Unico’s Vision
Alongside activities at Joaquin, Unico Silver is advancing work at its flagship Cerro Leon Project in Argentina’s Santa Cruz province. Positioned as a growth-oriented developer, the company maintains a long-term exploration and development agenda aimed at expanding its asset base and advancing prospective high-grade silver projects across South America.
