  • Sunshine Metals initiates mapping and sampling at Sybil Project’s Francis Creek prospect

  • Geochemical readings indicate promising gold stratigraphy at multiple targets

  • Drilling at Sybil set to begin between July and August with key areas under evaluation

Sunshine Metals (ASX:SHN), listed on the All Ordinaries index, has commenced groundwork at its Sybil Project in Queensland, beginning field activities at the Francis Creek prospect. The company is focusing on mapping and sampling across specific zones ahead of a scheduled drilling campaign set for the coming months.

The Sybil Project lies along a structurally complex region west of Townsville, believed to be part of a gold-bearing epithermal system. The exploration strategy currently targets Francis Creek East and the Burdekin Veins, both viewed as priority areas within the broader mineralised corridor.

Initial Sampling Reveals Geochemical Signatures at Francis Creek East

As part of the early-stage fieldwork, Sunshine’s exploration team has detected elevated arsenic and antimony levels in samples gathered from Francis Creek East and the Burdekin Veins prospect. These elements are often indicative of epithermal gold systems, particularly near boiling zones where mineral deposition thickens within favourable host rock.

Such readings support geological interpretations that Francis Creek may present an expanded auriferous boiling zone further toward the east and southeast. The exploration campaign is intended to confirm the thickness and continuity of these mineralised zones.

Company Targets Key Prospects Ahead of Mid-Year Drilling

Sunshine Metals has confirmed that it will begin drilling at Sybil between July and August. The upcoming program will evaluate multiple targets including Francis Creek East, Quartz Ridge, and the Burdekin Veins. The focus will be on confirming geological models, which so far align with visible vein structures and geochemical results across mapped areas.

According to the company’s leadership, recent time spent on site has enhanced the geological confidence around the Sybil region. The area remains underexplored, despite historical evidence of epithermal vein networks associated with gold mineralisation.

Geological Context and Exploration Outlook for Sybil

The Sybil Project is located within a long extensional structure infilled with Permian-Carboniferous volcanic rocks. Its geological characteristics mirror the Pajingo-style gold system, which is typified by low-sulphidation epithermal deposits.

Sunshine has previously indicated that the region may mirror structural features found at major producing sites. The Pajingo system, which shares geological similarities with Sybil, has delivered significant gold production historically, further enhancing interest in the Queensland prospect.

Sunshine Set to Feature at Noosa Mining Conference

Sunshine Metals will also participate in the upcoming Noosa Mining Investor Conference, scheduled for late July at Peppers Noosa Resort. The event will feature updates from listed resource companies and is recognised as a key platform for industry developments.
