Pacgold expands diamond drilling at Alice River to advance geological understanding
Structural and metallurgical studies underway at Central, Southern, and Posie zones
Aircore rig and geophysics planned for regional extension around Victoria and White Lion
Pacgold Ltd (ASX:PGO), a junior gold exploration company listed on the All Ordinaries, continues to advance its exploration initiatives at the Alice River Gold Project in North Queensland. The company has launched an expanded diamond drilling campaign focused on collecting geological and metallurgical data from various mineralised targets across the project.
The program marks the next phase of activity following the recently completed maiden resource estimate, with a renewed focus on refining the geological model and improving knowledge of the mineralised zones.
Drilling Program Targets Key Zones for Structural Insights
The current drilling campaign is targeting the Central, Southern, and Posie zones within the established resource area. The objective is to obtain additional structural data and support metallurgical testwork that may inform future project stages. The diamond holes are planned to reach areas not previously tested, particularly within prospective gold shoots.
Managing Director Matthew Boyes outlined that the strategy focuses on revealing the structural orientations and controlling features that influence mineralisation patterns at depth. These results are expected to provide greater clarity on the resource potential and continuity.
New Targets Underway as Company Broadens Exploration Footprint
In addition to infill and structural drilling, Pacgold has scheduled initial test drilling on the Jerry Dodds and Victoria prospects. These targets are part of the broader Alice River corridor and were previously highlighted through shallow drilling intercepts. Core samples will be reviewed for their geological and structural composition to better interpret the style of gold mineralisation encountered.
Following the mobilisation of the diamond drill crews, Pacgold also plans to deploy an aircore rig for a regional drilling campaign. This work will investigate zones along strike from Victoria to the White Lion prospect, a region seen as underexplored with strong potential for structural continuity.
Geophysics and Survey Work to Enhance Subsurface Understanding
The company is also preparing for additional geophysical surveys at White Lion to define the subsurface extent of mineralisation. Upcoming work will include ground magnetic surveys and pole-dipole array resistivity mapping, designed to provide detailed insights into the geological setting.
These efforts are scheduled to begin within the coming weeks, complementing ongoing drilling operations and contributing to a more robust geological framework for the Alice River Gold Project.
Strategic Location within Queensland’s Mining Corridor
The Alice River Gold Project is situated within the northern sector of the Northeast Queensland Minerals Province and covers a substantial landholding of granted exploration permits and mining leases. With over thirty kilometres of prospective gold-bearing zones, the project continues to attract attention as Pacgold expands its exploration efforts and dataset.
