Olympio Metals initiates drilling at Bousquet Gold Project in Québec
First phase targets structural and geophysical zones at Paquin and Decoeur
Program supports expansion near the flagship Dufay Gold-Copper Project
Australian mineral explorer Olympio Metals (ASX:OLY), listed on the ASX 300, has launched a diamond drilling program at the Bousquet Gold Project in Québec, Canada. The initiative marks a significant step forward in the company's regional exploration strategy, with the project positioned east of its flagship Dufay Gold-Copper Project.
The campaign is set to unfold in two distinct phases, with the results from the initial round informing the design of subsequent exploration efforts across multiple high-priority zones.
Initial Drill Focus on Paquin and Decoeur Targets
The program's first phase consists of a series of drill holes focused on the Paquin and Decoeur prospects. At Paquin, the emphasis is on tracing the western strike extension of a quartz vein-hosted gold system. This structural zone is recognised for its prospective characteristics in relation to past regional exploration.
Meanwhile, at the Decoeur prospect, activities are centred on testing the depth continuity of a litho-structural host comparable to the known Piché group. Additional drilling will also address a large induced polarisation anomaly that remains under-explored along a significant Archean structural corridor.
Local Expertise Drives Project Efficiency
Olympio has engaged local drilling service provider Diafor to manage onsite operations, with Managing Director Sean Delaney confirming the program is running ahead of schedule. The use of experienced regional contractors has allowed for timely mobilisation and efficient execution during the early stages of activity.
According to Delaney, the Decoeur targets are especially significant as they include an untested extension zone along the eastern edge of the Bousquet Fault, which represents one of the area's more substantial geological structures.
Bousquet Complements Flagship Gold-Copper Asset
Strategically located about sixty-five kilometres east of the Dufay Gold-Copper Project, the Bousquet tenements offer a mix of advanced gold prospects and under-drilled structural anomalies. These include several zones identified through historic geophysical datasets and modern interpretation techniques, many of which remain untested by drilling.
Olympio Metals’ exploration focus continues to align with its goal of identifying and advancing assets linked to critical and precious minerals. Through projects like Bousquet and Dufay, the company aims to maintain and expand its footprint across prolific North American mineral provinces.
