  • Project gains strong community and bipartisan support for regional economic impact

Nova Minerals Ltd (ASX:NVA), listed on both the ASX 200 and US exchanges, has expressed its strong support for the West Susitna Access Road in Alaska. The project is viewed as a strategic step toward enabling all-season infrastructure to bolster development at the Estelle Gold and Critical Minerals Project.

The company welcomed the permit application submitted by the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA) to the US Army Corps of Engineers, marking a key milestone in advancing road connectivity and enhancing operational efficiencies in the region.

Strategic Road to Enable Resource Development and Regional Access

The proposed road spans nearly 80 miles, connecting Alexander Creek to the Whiskey Bravo airstrip. Designed to operate year-round, the road would link isolated parts of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough to existing transport corridors, opening access for mineral development while supporting broader public land connectivity.

Initial construction on a 22-mile segment—including a major Susitna River bridge—is expected to begin within the coming months under a complementary effort by the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities. Nova Minerals described the road as essential for unlocking cost savings and operational scalability at its Estelle operations.

Alaska Leaders Mobilise to Accelerate Approvals

Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy has requested that the West Susitna Access Road be granted priority status under Presidential Executive Order 14241, which accelerates infrastructure projects deemed critical to national security and resource independence.

The Governor stated the infrastructure would enhance the United States’ energy posture and economic resilience, aligning with the broader federal push to secure critical mineral supply chains. His comments were echoed by Nova Minerals CEO, who reinforced the company’s commitment to supporting initiatives that align economic growth with national strategic interests.

Strong Backing Across Government and Community Sectors

The project has received support from various stakeholders, including elected officials and grassroots organisations. Matanuska-Susitna Borough Mayor Edna DeVries called it a "strategic investment," while legislative representatives described the road as integral to bolstering mineral access and job creation.

Community groups such as the Alaska Outdoor Council and Friends of West Susitna have also rallied behind the initiative. These endorsements underscore a shared vision to improve overland access and create economic diversification in under-connected areas of Alaska.

Permit Review Process Underway With Public Engagement

With the permit application now lodged, the road project enters a regulatory phase involving environmental review, federal oversight, and public consultation. Nova Minerals has reiterated its dedication to responsible resource development and constructive engagement with stakeholders.

The infrastructure aligns with Alaska’s constitutional mandate to responsibly develop its natural resources for public benefit. As the review advances, the road remains central to the Estelle Project’s operational framework and the state’s broader infrastructure strategy.
