Highlights:
Lodestar Minerals has finished its first reverse circulation drilling campaign at the Darwin Project in Chile.
The program identified additional quartz-calcite veins with copper and iron oxide mineralisation between key targets.
Samples from the drilling program have been sent for assaying, with results expected in the coming weeks.
Lodestar Minerals (ASX:LSR), an active base ASX metals and mining stock gold explorer, has concluded its first reverse circulation drilling campaign at the Darwin Iron-Oxide Copper Gold (IOCG) Project located in Chile. This project lies in a region known for its significant copper deposits and gold-rich IOCG systems. The program consisted of sixteen drill holes, which together totalled over two thousand meters of drilling. After initial results revealed the presence of additional quartz-calcite veins containing copper and iron oxide mineralisation at the surface, the program was extended. These veins were located between the southern and central targets of the project, with evidence suggesting a connection between both areas.
Drilling Results and Assaying Process
Lodestar Minerals reports that there is continuity of the vein system over a strike length of more than one kilometre. Geological observations of the drill chips identified multiple intervals of interest, notably quartz and calcite veins, which are believed to have the highest likelihood of mineralisation based on historical mine workings in the region. To expedite the process, these intervals have been prioritised for rush turnaround assaying, allowing for faster results, which are expected to be returned within half the usual timeframe.
Geological Context and Nearby Deposits
The Darwin IOCG Project is situated in a mining region known for several notable copper and gold deposits. Among the nearby projects is Carola, which contains millions of tonnes of copper and gold, as well as Atacama Kozan, another substantial deposit in the vicinity. The presence of such deposits in the region provides additional context for the ongoing exploration at the Darwin Project, which may reveal further insights into the local mineral system.
Lodestar Minerals, which holds a diversified exploration portfolio in both Chile and Western Australia, continues to focus its efforts on advancing projects in these regions.
