  • Legacy Minerals identifies new gold-copper trends at its Drake Project in New South Wales

  • Airborne MT survey links known mineral systems with conductive zones for exploration

  • Systematic sampling initiated to refine targets for future drilling initiatives

Legacy Minerals Ltd (ASX:LGM), a diversified explorer listed on the ASX 300, has revealed a series of newly defined gold-copper targets at its Drake Project in northern New South Wales. The initiative stems from the completion of an airborne magnetotellurics (MT) survey, which identified conductive anomalies across a broader strike zone.

The company has outlined multiple prospective corridors across the project area, each offering distinct geological features aligned with historic mineralisation trends within the New England Fold Belt.

Airborne MT Survey Highlights Conductive Anomalies Across Known Systems

The MT survey conducted by Legacy Minerals revealed clear correlations between historic deposits and deeper conductive features. These include systems linked to Mt Carrington, White Rock, and Red Rock — all located along structural trends extending north and south of known deposits. The data also revealed newly identified depth-penetrating anomalies at Emu, Mascotte, and Battery prospects.

These conductive bodies are interpreted to lie along mineralised trends and are now the focus of ground-based validation through geophysical interpretation, mapping, and sampling.

Eight Target Zones Selected for Ground Validation and Sampling

Legacy Minerals has prioritised eight target zones based on conductivity, structural positioning, and alignment with historical data. The zones are undergoing detailed ground truthing and soil sampling. The company aims to collect comprehensive multi-element data sets from these areas to prepare for potential drill campaigns.

The Drake Project hosts a wide array of historic workings, underscoring its mineral prospectivity. Data compiled from previous exploration efforts is being integrated into the current modelling framework to help refine high-priority zones.

Historical Mining Activity Supports Current Exploration Focus

The Drake area is recognised as one of Australia’s longest-standing mining districts, with a mining history stretching from the mid-nineteenth century into the late twentieth century. The proximity of Legacy’s current tenements to numerous legacy workings is expected to enhance interpretation accuracy and drive confidence in the MT results.

According to the company, many of these historic mining zones were developed without modern geophysical tools, presenting an opportunity to uncover overlooked trends.

Soil Sampling Underway Across High-Priority Zones

Legacy Minerals has initiated a systematic soil sampling campaign across the high-priority zones identified in the MT survey. Samples will be tested for a wide suite of geochemical markers, contributing to the development of detailed geoscientific models.
