Leeuwin Metals reports high-grade drill results from Marda Gold Project
Exploration expands with new targets and pending assays across mining lease
Maiden mineral resource estimate planned this quarter, with additional updates expected
Leeuwin Metals Ltd (ASX:LM1), a key exploration player within the ASX 200, has reported strong gold intersections from its latest drilling campaign at the Marda Gold Project in Western Australia. The ongoing work at the Python prospect within Marda Central has reinforced the presence of continuous mineralisation beneath the existing open pit, strengthening the company’s strategy to establish a maiden mineral resource estimate.
Drilling Confirms Expansion of Mineralised Structures at Python
Recent drill holes at the Python prospect have uncovered thick and continuous high-grade intersections. These new results extend known mineralisation over a sizeable area below the current pit design, aligning with the company’s strategy of resource definition. The intersected gold-bearing zones have added further confidence in the structural continuity of the Marda Central system.
According to Leeuwin, the mineralised corridor now extends across an area measuring hundreds of metres, with gold-rich zones appearing to maintain strong vertical and lateral continuity.
Marda Central Emerges as Priority Zone Within 70km Corridor
Located within a broader greenstone belt, Marda Central continues to emerge as a central target in Leeuwin’s portfolio. The latest drill program is focused on expanding known mineralisation both at depth and along strike within the granted mining lease.
Plan views of the project area show active and historical drill collars, with the recent phase of drilling marking a significant progression from earlier efforts. Systematic targeting has led to the identification of multiple new prospective zones throughout Marda Central.
Surface Exploration Unlocks Additional Targets
Recent fieldwork at Marda has delivered promising insights through surface mapping and rock chip sampling. Eleven new target zones have been outlined, most of which remain underexplored. These zones reside within the existing mining tenure and are characterised by historical workings and quartz vein trends, previously considered highly prospective for gold mineralisation.
More than one hundred assay results from recent surface samples remain pending, with further structural mapping planned to inform the next stages of drilling.
Broader Project Drilling Scheduled for August
Following the success at Marda Central, Leeuwin is preparing to launch further drilling at the Evanston target. This campaign will focus on testing near-surface high-grade mineralisation to support resource growth.
Additional activities across the broader Marda Project include 3D geological modelling and continued field reconnaissance. These programs are aimed at refining the geological model and supporting future drilling priorities at prospects such as Golden Orb and King Brown.
