Highlights

  • Olympio Metals (ASX:OLY) identifies widespread copper mineralisation at Dasserat, part of its Québec-based Dufay Project

  • Drilling intersects multiple copper-rich zones linked to syenite porphyry structures

  • Additional surveys planned to map mineralisation scale and geological connections

Olympio Metals (ASX:OLY), listed under the materials segment on the ASX 200, has reported extended copper mineralisation from its recent exploration efforts at the Dasserat prospect, part of the Dufay Project in Québec, Canada. The development adds to broader sector momentum, contributing to the ongoing relevance of critical minerals in regional and global mining narratives.

Dasserat forms a key part of Olympio’s broader strategy across Australia and Canada, where the company is focused on advancing projects tied to essential industrial resources. The Dufay Project, where the discovery occurred, is located near the Cadillac-Lake Larder Fault Zone, which is historically known for its extensive geological systems.

Field Mapping and Core Analysis Underway

Following completion of a diamond drilling program across multiple holes at the Chevrier and Dasserat targets, Olympio’s exploration team is actively engaged in fieldwork. The team is currently evaluating the recovered diamond core and conducting mapping activities at the Dasserat prospect to further understand the mineralised zones identified in the drill campaign.

The results confirm copper-bearing intervals across a notable strike length, with multiple mineralised zones intersected. These findings are being assessed alongside geophysical data, with the aim of defining the extent and continuity of copper sulphide presence in the region.

Geophysical Techniques Support Discovery

Induced polarisation and electromagnetic modelling were employed before the drilling commenced, with these tools helping to identify areas of interest for drill targeting. The company has observed a strong correlation between the modelled zones and actual copper sulphide intercepts, which is being seen as a valuable input for future exploration activity at other sites within the broader Dufay Project.

Based on the successful alignment between geophysical predictions and drilling outcomes, additional surveys using these methods are under review. The new surveying will help delineate the scale of the copper-bearing systems, particularly their connection with nearby syenite porphyry features.

Drilling Program and Sample Processing

The recently completed drilling campaign covered multiple drillholes across the Chevrier and Dasserat targets. A significant number of core samples were collected and sent to a laboratory in Calgary for geochemical analysis. These samples are now in process, with further interpretation of the mineralisation underway based on core logs and sample trends.

One of the notable drillholes revealed a particularly mineralised section, further affirming the presence of disseminated copper zones. These intersected intervals are situated within a geological setting that may offer further exploration pathways, especially in proximity to the syenite porphyry to the north.

Project Context and Regional Significance

The Dufay Project is strategically positioned near the Cadillac Break, a well-known geological fault that has historically hosted significant mineral systems. Olympio Metals (ASX:OLY) is leveraging this proximity to explore for copper and other essential minerals.

The project is also located near Fokus Mining’s gold deposit, highlighting the mineral diversity in the area. Olympio’s work at Dasserat not only reinforces the regional mineral prospectivity but also adds to broader exploration trends shaping the resource sector. The combination of geological mapping, core analysis, and advanced geophysical techniques is expected to guide the company’s next exploration phase.
