Highlights:

  • Apollo Minerals Ltd completes second phase of drilling at Salanie Gold Project in Gabon

  • Multiple gold-bearing zones intersected at A1, A3, and P6 prospects

  • Salanie mineralising structure remains open to the north and south

Apollo Minerals Ltd (ASX:AON), (OTC:APOMF), listed on the Australian Securities Exchange and part of the broader ASX 200 environment, continues its exploration in the gold sector with progress at the Salanie Gold Project in Gabon. The company recently completed its second-phase diamond drilling campaign for the year across the Keri Permit, an area fully controlled by the company.

Located near Lambarene within the Lambarene Horst region, the Salanie project is part of a historically gold-rich belt that saw production in the mid-twentieth century. Despite its past, the zone has remained underexplored for decades, allowing new campaigns to reveal previously unassessed mineral systems.

Drilling Confirms Shallow Gold-Bearing Zones

The 2025 drilling campaign at Salanie consisted of a series of diamond drill holes designed to expand known gold-bearing structures and test previously uncharted locations. Standout results were obtained from multiple prospects including A1, A3, and P6.

At A1, drilling confirmed the extension of mineralised veining beneath past trenching activity, affirming the continuity of shallow gold zones. Meanwhile, hole intercepts at P6 revealed mineralisation in multiple zones. The presence of brecciation and quartz veining at A1 South indicates an extension of the Salanie Fault, which is believed to influence gold deposition in the area.

Targets Remain Open with Broader Exploration Underway

Apollo Minerals’ drilling efforts also focused on newly identified areas including A2 and A3. These zones are yet to be extensively drilled but are considered structurally favourable based on geochemical and geological observations. The company has interpreted a prominent north-south trending vein system at A1, extending into neighbouring sections, which has yet to be fully delineated.

The P6 area in particular remains largely untouched toward the eastern margin. Structural data is currently being reviewed to inform future targeting strategies in these lesser-tested regions.

Visible Gold and Structural Indicators Strengthen Exploration Focus

Drill core analysis has revealed visible gold in association with sulphide minerals such as chalcopyrite and galena. Surface trenching has previously reported high-grade zones across Salanie, reinforcing the significance of quartz-vein-hosted systems. The findings point to widespread veining systems, some of which have been traced across several kilometres of strike within the greenstone belt.

Field mapping and trench sampling have uncovered mineralised quartz veins across various locations, including areas linked to past artisanal workings. These signs of historical activity and current drill outcomes continue to affirm the importance of the broader Salanie greenstone system.

Strategic Positioning Within a Historic Gold Belt

The Salanie Gold Project occupies a critical position within an underexplored portion of the Lambarene greenstone belt. Historical records indicate small-scale mining of both quartz veins and alluvial gold deposits, but modern exploration techniques are only recently being applied to the region.

Ongoing surface work, including geochemical mapping and structural interpretation, will guide future drilling strategies as the company assesses the extent and continuity of gold-bearing zones.
