New general industrial lots released in Wedgefield near Port Hedland
DevelopmentWA continues infrastructure enhancements in the region
Project attracts established industry players and local contractors
The industrial sector in Western Australia is witnessing further expansion with the release of new land within the Wedgefield Industrial Estate, managed by DevelopmentWA. The estate, situated just outside Port Hedland and aligned with the All Ordinaries, is a key part of the state's regional development strategy focused on mining support services and infrastructure growth.
The newly launched general industrial lots are positioned at Hedland Junction, a strategic location approximately a short drive from Port Hedland. These development-ready parcels are now available to accommodate business operations catering to the surrounding mining and logistics sectors.
Infrastructure-Ready Land Supports Business Operations
Each lot in this release is fully titled and equipped with access to water, power, and the National Broadband Network. This ready-to-develop status is intended to streamline project timelines for businesses aiming to establish or expand operations within the region. The availability of these lots offers flexibility for small and medium-sized industrial enterprises that rely on reliable service connections and proximity to mining activities.
The area has already attracted national and international operators across various industrial categories. Tenants such as BP, Bridgestone, Monadelphous, Qube, Komatsu, and Toll have previously secured presence within the precinct, reinforcing its industrial significance.
Local Employment and Contractor Engagement Enhanced
The civil works contract for the new development phase was awarded to TCD Civil Construction, a Pilbara-based firm. This engagement aligns with ongoing efforts to prioritise regional job creation and support local contractors. The development of Hedland Junction is a long-term project that has progressively contributed to workforce participation and economic growth in the Pilbara.
Beyond construction, once fully developed, the precinct is projected to support hundreds of full-time roles and contribute significantly to the region’s annual economic activity.
Access Connectivity Strengthened with Road Upgrades
To further improve logistical efficiency, DevelopmentWA is undertaking road infrastructure upgrades within the estate. These include the extension of Hematite Drive, creating a more direct connection to the Great Northern Highway. This enhancement is aimed at facilitating smoother ingress and egress for heavy vehicles and improving the haulage capabilities of the estate.
The integration of these transport links plays a key role in positioning Wedgefield Industrial Estate as a vital node in the industrial network of Western Australia. The development underpins broader plans to accommodate ongoing demand from sectors such as mining services, warehousing, transport logistics, and equipment maintenance.
