FireFly Metals maps numerous untested anomalies through airborne and ground geophysics at Green Bay
Additional drilling programs underway at Tilt Cove and Hillbog near Rambler Mines
Company advances aggressive regional exploration strategy across Newfoundland copper-gold district
FireFly Metals Ltd (ASX:FFM), listed on the ASX 300, has identified a wide range of high-priority greenfields exploration targets at its Green Bay Copper-Gold Project in Newfoundland. These discoveries follow an extensive airborne electromagnetic (EM) and magnetic survey campaign—the first modern geophysical survey undertaken across the Green Bay project area.
The company’s geophysical campaign mapped over three hundred conductive anomalies, several of which exhibit geological orientations and signatures that mirror those at established mineralised zones, including the Ming, Rambler Main, and East Mines. These anomalies are positioned across structural trends historically associated with high-grade copper-gold mineralisation in the region.
Modern Exploration Unlocks Undrilled Zones
The newly acquired airborne VTEM and magnetic survey results were paired with ground-based geophysical validation, producing a pipeline of drill-ready targets. FireFly reports that several of the targets closely align with previously mined zones and support the company's broader aim of advancing the resource footprint at Green Bay.
To accelerate activity, FireFly plans to mobilise a second drill rig. This expanded surface drill fleet will focus on systematically testing the geophysical anomalies as part of the company's near-term exploration strategy.
Tilt Cove and Hillbog Projects Advance
Exploration activity is also expanding across FireFly’s additional Newfoundland tenements, including the Tilt Cove Copper-Gold Project, situated approximately thirty kilometres east of the Ming Mine. Tilt Cove hosts a historically significant volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) copper-gold system with prior production from early mining operations.
Recent ground-based EM surveys at Tilt Cove have highlighted a substantial untested conductive feature. Originally identified by previous operators decades ago, this anomaly will be drill-tested later this year, further reinforcing the strategic importance of the broader Green Bay mineral belt.
In the Rambler Main and East Mines area, FireFly has also launched drilling at a new target named Hillbog. Located just south of existing operations, Hillbog’s EM signature has generated particular interest, with assay results from the initial drill phase expected soon.
Focus on Regional Growth and Unexplored Zones
Further south-west of the Ming Mine, FireFly has outlined multiple large-scale bedrock conductors aligned along mineralised trends. These targets remain untested and are now part of the company's priority drill schedule.
These activities fall under FireFly's focused strategy to expand regional copper-gold resources, increase the confidence of existing deposits, and uncover new zones through modern exploration methods. The discoveries to date reflect untapped mineralisation potential in proximity to historically productive areas, now supported by robust geophysical datasets and well-funded operational planning.
