  • Chrysos (ASX:C79) enters long-term agreement with Newmont (NYSE:NEM) to supply PhotonAssay technology

  • First unit set for installation at Newmont’s Ahafo site to enhance mineral analysis and efficiency

  • Agreement includes minimum payment terms and aligns with environmental performance goals

Chrysos Corporation, listed on the ASX (ASX:C79), operates within the mining technology sector. The company has entered a new phase of its expansion through a master services agreement with Newmont Corporation, traded on the NYSE (NYSE:NEM). Newmont, a key presence in the global gold mining industry, is part of the S&P 500, while Chrysos contributes to the technology segment of the Australian market, aligning with the broader innovation trend observed across the asx 200.

Installation of PhotonAssay Unit at Ahafo

As part of the agreement, the first implementation of Chrysos’ PhotonAssay unit is scheduled for Newmont’s Ahafo gold mine located in Ghana. The installation is anticipated in the early stages of Newmont’s next financial year. This technology is set to replace conventional methods of mineral sample analysis and is designed to improve operational efficiency and site-level throughput.

Terms of the Strategic Agreement

The terms of the master services agreement include a fee-per-sample model and a structured minimum monthly payment schedule. The arrangement is structured with an optional renewal cycle over several years. The strategic alignment between the companies is expected to support the continuation of services at various Newmont operations worldwide, beyond the initial deployment in Ghana.

PhotonAssay and Environmental Applications

PhotonAssay, developed by Chrysos, is designed to deliver fast and accurate analysis for gold, silver, copper, and similar commodities. One of its key attributes is a notable reduction in environmental impact when compared to traditional assay methods. The process significantly lowers the emission of carbon dioxide and limits the generation of hazardous waste, aligning with broader sustainability frameworks adopted by mining corporations globally.

Leadership Vision and Expansion Plans

Chrysos’ executive leadership has expressed that the agreement supports the company’s broader direction of engaging with major mining enterprises. The company has emphasised continued interest from large and mid-sized producers in adopting PhotonAssay across active sites. This approach aligns with its objective of driving transformation in ore analysis on a global scale through science-backed technologies.

Newmont’s Operational Scope

Newmont operates across several mining jurisdictions, including Africa, Australia, North America, and South America. The company manages assets that extract a variety of mineral resources, though it maintains a strong focus on gold. The collaboration with Chrysos is consistent with Newmont’s broader strategic goals involving innovation and the adoption of technologies that support environmental performance improvements.

Chrysos’ Role in the Mining Technology Sector

Chrysos specialises in scientific and software-driven solutions that support mineral exploration and extraction industries. With a focus on analytical precision and sustainability, the company continues to expand its footprint across key mining regions, including those dominated by global producers.
