Cazaly Resources (ASX:CAZ) has commenced a new drilling program at Duke of York within the Goongarrie Gold Project
Drilling targets extensions beneath historic gold workings to validate earlier intercepts
Part of Cazaly’s earn-in agreement with Brightstar Resources (ASX:BTR) for up to majority control of the project
Cazaly Resources (ASX:CAZ), listed on the ASX 200, has begun reverse circulation drilling at the Duke of York prospect, part of the broader Goongarrie Gold Project in Western Australia. This drilling campaign spans multiple targets situated beneath previously mined zones, focusing on confirming earlier mineral intercepts and extending known mineralisation.
The Duke of York prospect lies within the northern part of the Bardoc Tectonic Zone, regarded for its high concentration of gold-bearing structures. This zone is part of the larger Boulder-Lefroy Shear Zone, a well-known gold-rich corridor within the Yilgarn Craton. Historical data from earlier drilling in this region indicated notable gold grades, which Cazaly is now systematically reassessing.
Strategic Earn-in Agreement with Brightstar Resources
Earlier this year, Cazaly entered a binding term sheet with Brightstar Resources (ASX:BTR), allowing it to progressively acquire up to an eighty percent stake in the Goongarrie Project. The staged earn-in agreement is structured around a sequence of exploration expenditures that will incrementally increase Cazaly’s equity in the project.
As of March, Cazaly exercised the option to move forward with the joint venture. The company’s current drilling program is aimed not only at validating earlier geological work but also at guiding further exploration initiatives both along strike and at depth across the target zones.
Fast-Tracked Exploration in a Prospective District
According to Managing Director Tara French, Cazaly has advanced rapidly, securing the necessary approvals to commence fieldwork within a short timeframe of executing its earn-in option. This efficiency has positioned the team to drill high-priority gold targets promptly, beginning with Duke of York.
The exploration team anticipates that findings from this initial campaign will contribute to shaping the next stages of drilling, with a focus on structural extensions and broader mineral continuity across the project area. The Goongarrie Gold Project comprises a significant stretch of the Bardoc belt, known for historical production and favourable geological characteristics.
Company Overview and Broader Exploration Focus
Cazaly Resources is a diversified exploration entity with projects across Australia, Namibia, and Canada. The company’s focus on base and precious metals underpins its strategic presence in geologically prospective jurisdictions.
The current Goongarrie program reflects Cazaly’s operational momentum and aligns with its broader efforts to build a resource base across multiple regions. While the Goongarrie project remains in its early exploration stage under Cazaly’s stewardship, its location within a mineralised structural corridor enhances the project's long-term significance within the company’s portfolio.
