Alkane Resources expands mineralisation footprint at Northern Molong Porphyry Project
High-grade breccia zones confirmed through diamond drilling at Boda 2-3
Follow-up exploration and surveys planned to refine deep porphyry targets
Alkane Resources Ltd (ASX:ALK), listed on the All Ordinaries, has reported encouraging results from its latest regional exploration program across the Boda-Kaiser corridor at the Northern Molong Porphyry Project in central west New South Wales. The campaign, focused on expanding the scale of mineralisation and discovering new zones, highlights the continued growth of the porphyry system and reinforces its development prospects.
The drilling targeted prospective zones near existing discoveries and ventured into underexplored areas within the company’s extensive tenement package.
Strong Mineralisation Intercepts at Boda 2-3 Support Ongoing Expansion
Recent diamond drilling at Boda 2-3 confirmed the vertical continuity of high-grade breccia-hosted gold and copper mineralisation. The holes identified chalcopyrite-dominant hydrothermal breccias with notable gold and copper grades, contributing to a better understanding of the system’s geometry and scale.
The mineralised breccia zones intersected in this phase support the hypothesis that the Boda-Kaiser corridor holds considerable untapped extensions, particularly towards the southeast where reverse-circulation drilling also encountered altered and mineralised volcanic rocks.
Driell Creek Follow-Up Refines Geological Understanding
Drilling at the Driell Creek prospect, located northwest of Kaiser, returned modest intervals of mineralisation, yet offered valuable insight into the area’s complex geological setting. Structural disruptions were evident, with faulted zones and weak mineralisation challenging earlier assumptions.
Despite these results, geochemical data indicated signs typically associated with proximity to significant hydrothermal systems. Elevated levels of arsenic and antimony suggest deeper porphyry-style mineralisation may be present, prompting Alkane to refine its structural model and prepare for future deep drilling campaigns.
Advanced Surveys and Regional Exploration to Continue
Over the past year, Alkane’s broader exploration efforts have included multiple drill programs and geophysical work at prospects including Haddington and Boda South. These activities have laid the groundwork for a new phase of detailed target refinement using a helicopter-borne magnetotelluric survey spanning over a hundred square kilometres.
Additional work scheduled includes deep drill testing, air-core programs, and soil sampling to further delineate mineralised zones and uncover new targets across the Northern Molong Porphyry Project.
Strategic Outlook Following FY25 Operational and Merger Milestones
The latest exploration update follows Alkane’s report of gold production from its Tomingley operations in line with expectations. The company also advanced corporate growth through regulatory approval for its planned merger with Mandalay Resources, aiming to establish a diversified mining group focused on gold and antimony.
