Lead Social Inventory Nose Dives in China over Strengthening Environmental Curbs

Refined lead social inventories plunge in China post the National Day holiday, which marked the ninth straight week of a decline in lead inventories, as China strengthens environmental curbs.

  • Social inventories of lead across Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Tianjin provinces were over 850 mt low on 11 October 2019, as compared to the previous corresponding period ended 27 September 2019.
  • Anti-smog initiatives by the local authorities in China reduced the production across the primary and secondary smelters in Hebei and Henan provinces.
