China’s Stainless Steel Production Fell in September After Rising For Four Consecutive Months

Stainless steel production in China declined in September 2019 post rising for four straight months.

  • The stainless-steel production in China stood at 2.47 million metric tonnes (in September 2019), witnessing a drop of almost 5 per cent against the production in August 2019.
  • However, the yearly production witnessed an 8.38 per cent growth against the same month production in 2018.
  • 300-series stainless steel production stood at 1.16 million metric tonnes, down by 2.1 per cent against the previous year and 5.74 per cent against the previous month.
  • 200-series production plunged by 8.66 per cent to stand at 896,000 metric tonnes.
