ACCC Would Not Oppose Bauer Media and Pacific Magazines Overlap

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (or ACCC) suggested that it would not oppose the Bauer Media’s proposed acquisition of Pacific Magazines.

  • ACCC assesses that the transaction would not impact the competition in relevant markets; and,
  • Mr Rod Sims- Chair ACCC suggested that the recent declines in revenue experienced by many magazines would likely to continue ahead, which would further lead to less investment in content and fewer retail promotions; thus,
  • ACCC assesses that the acquisition would not lessen the competition from other media, especially online platform, would compete with Bauer.
