Felise Kaufusi is prepared to walk the "fine line" between match-turning hit and month-long suspension.
The Dolphins enforcer's defensive brutality was behind the new NRL club's 3-0 start, before he got one wrong and spent the next month on the sidelines.
The former Melbourne stalwart returned for the weekend's history-making comeback defeat of Gold Coast and reflected on Wednesday of what he's learnt.
"It's a fine line; the start of the year I was next-to-perfect, cleaning guys up," he said.
"It was one I got fractionally wrong ... that's what happened, cop it (the punishment) on the chin.
"But it's part of my job to put as much pressure as a I can on the ball players and I have to get it right.
"They're (the NRL) are coming down pretty hard on it (but) it won't change the way I play."
Kaufusi admitted to some rust and an "atrocious" first half against the Titans, but was happy to be back in the fray.
"There's nothing worse than sitting on the sidelines, especially when you're not injured," he said.
"You feel like a bit of a waste just in the background."
Kaufusi indicated that he had been chatting to Jack Wighton about a move north, before the Canberra talent instead signed with South Sydney.
The Dolphins did confirm the signing of St George Illawarra forward Josh Kerr on Wednesday though, the Redcliffe talent returning to where he played junior football.
Kerr was an uncapped member of the 2020 Queensland State of Origin squad and made such an impression he won the Peter Jackson Memorial Medal for his off-field contributions to the series win.
"What a man," Kaufusi, who was an Origin teammate of Kerr's, said.
"His energy, presence ... he brought to the team was unreal.
"I'm having a chuckle just thinking about the memories.
"He'll be a good fit ... there's nothing better than representing the junior club you've come from."
