  • Advanced On-Board Computing: Akida offers real-time data processing with high efficiency, resiliency, and low power consumption, enabling next-gen AI for space applications.
  • Support for ESA’s Vision: Collaboration aligns with the European Space Agency's push to adopt neuromorphic computing for space exploration.

BrainChip Holdings Ltd (ASX:BRN, OTCQX:BRCHF, ADR:BCHPY), the world’s first commercial producer of ultra-low power, fully digital, event-based, neuromorphic AI, has announced a pivotal partnership with Frontgrade Gaisler. The agreement licenses BrainChip’s Akida™ neuromorphic IP for use in space-grade, fault-tolerant system-on-chip (SoC) solutions, enabling hardware-based AI acceleration in space missions.

This collaboration marks a significant step in the adoption of neuromorphic computing for space applications. Akida was selected for its ability to process real-time data streams with high levels of resiliency, autonomy, and accuracy while maintaining ultra-low power consumption and minimal mass and volume — critical requirements for space-bound technology.

Frontgrade Gaisler, a leader in radiation-hardened microprocessors for space applications, aims to integrate Akida into its space-grade systems, advancing the capability of on-board computing in space. With this partnership, BrainChip's technology will provide space-borne computers with improved power efficiency and performance while remaining compatible with existing Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs).

The European Space Agency (ESA) has been at the forefront of efforts to extend neuromorphic computing to the farthest edges of AI technology. This partnership supports ESA’s vision and showcases BrainChip’s position as a leader in cutting-edge AI solutions for extreme environments.
