Highlights:

  • Resource Expansion: Premier African Minerals Ltd has reported a 23% increase in lithium resources and a 17% rise in tantalum resources at its Zulu Lithium and Tantalum Project in Zimbabwe.

  • Quality Improvement: The latest update indicates enhanced quality in the lithium ore, reflecting more accurate data from ongoing mining activities.

  • Significant Deposits: The updated mineral resource estimate reveals over 131,000 tonnes of lithium oxide, which can produce approximately 2.2 million tonnes of spodumene concentrate, alongside around 1.2 million kilograms of tantalum.

Premier African Minerals Ltd (OTC:PRMMF) has announced a substantial enhancement of mineral resources at its Zulu Lithium and Tantalum Project located in Zimbabwe. The latest assessment indicates a 23% increase in lithium resources and a 17% rise in tantalum resources compared to earlier estimates. Additionally, the quality of the lithium ore has shown notable improvement.

The updated mineral resource estimate, compliant with the JORC and SAMREC codes, identifies a deposit containing over 131,000 tonnes of lithium oxide (Li2O). This quantity has the potential to be processed into approximately 2.2 million tonnes of spodumene concentrate, a lithium-rich material essential for battery production. Furthermore, the deposit is estimated to hold around 1.2 million kilograms of tantalum, a valuable rare metal utilized in electronics.

This positive update is attributed to ongoing mining operations, which have provided more precise data on the quality of the ore being extracted. The company anticipates further updates as mining progresses and additional analyses of the deposit are conducted.

According to CEO George Roach, the increases in resource estimates can be attributed to several factors. These include improvements in mining development and grade control, which indicate that in situ grade estimates have previously understated the actual grades being mined. Adjustments in ore body density and the incorporation of new data have also contributed to the revised estimates. The updated mineral resource estimate has been prepared on a depleted basis, reflecting the mining activities conducted to date.

The Zulu Project is positioned as a crucial development within the expanding lithium market, particularly in light of rising demand for lithium due to its critical role in electric vehicles and renewable energy storage solutions. This development reinforces Premier African Minerals’ commitment to contributing to the growing sector.
