Giyani Metals Corp {OTC:CATPF} is undergoing a strategic portfolio refocusing in Botswana as it transitions into a development company. CEO Charles FitzRoy spoke with Proactive’s Stephen Gunnion about the company’s decision to drop some legacy licenses in favor of prioritizing areas with high exploration potential, notably the flagship K.Hill Project. This strategic shift aims to optimize resources and enhance the company's position in the growing battery minerals market.
FitzRoy noted that Giyani has managed to retain the majority of its licenses, which is a testament to the strong support received from local government authorities in Botswana. This local backing is crucial for Giyani as it navigates the regulatory landscape and pursues its development goals.
In addition to the licensing update, FitzRoy provided insights into Giyani’s demonstration plant located in Johannesburg. The facility is on schedule to deliver its first product in the fourth quarter, with output planned for offtake qualification and testing. This step is essential for laying the groundwork for the company’s future commercial production facility in Botswana.
"The fact we have maintained the vast majority of our licenses shows the support we have in-country," FitzRoy emphasized during the discussion. Furthermore, he highlighted the identification of new exploration targets, which adds significant value to the company’s already extensive ore resources, positioning Giyani Metals Corp favorably in the competitive landscape of battery mineral development.
