Celsius Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: CELH) has achieved unprecedented success in the first quarter of 2024, marking a “record-breaking” period in its financial performance and market presence.

“Record-Breaking” financial results

In the first quarter, Celsius witnessed a remarkable 37% surge in revenue, reaching a staggering US$355.7 million, compared to US$259.9 million in the prior-year period. This exceptional growth was primarily fueled by the robust performance of its North American business, driven by sustained consumer demand, innovative product offerings, and channel expansion strategies. Despite inventory fluctuations within its largest distributor, resulting in a US$20 million impact, Celsius maintained its upward trajectory, reflecting the company's resilience and adaptability.

In Q1 2024, Celsius experienced robust growth drivers:

  • Club channel sales surged 36% to US$63.0M.
  • Amazon sales rose by 30% to US$28M, maintaining Celsius's top position in the energy drink market.
  • Food service channel witnessed remarkable growth, with case volume increasing by 186% YoY and 113% QoQ, constituting 12% of total sales to PepsiCo.

In Q1 2024, CELSIUS Essentials surpassed projections with a 54.5% ACV and 4.1 items sold per store, available in over 95,000 stores. Celsius debuted refreshing 12-ounce flavors like Blue Razz Lemonade and Raspberry Peach, alongside new variety packs. CELSIUS On The Go powders claimed the top spot in the energy powder category, increasing market share to 24%. At the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, Celsius showcased its products with exclusive performances by renowned artists at the Celsius Cosmic Desert event, featuring the Celsius Space Vibe Trilogy.

International expansion

In Q1 2024, Celsius's entry into the Canadian market surpassed expectations, capturing a 5.5% share in the energy category. The company also unveiled plans to expand into Australia, France, Ireland, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom in 2024, with initial sales in the UK and Ireland starting in April. Sales in Australia, France, and New Zealand are slated to commence in the fourth quarter, aiming for a broader reach by 2025.

Outlook

With a solid foundation of financial strength, innovative product offerings, and a strategic focus on global expansion, Celsius is poised for sustained growth and market leadership. The company's continued commitment to driving consumer demand, expanding its product portfolio, and penetrating new markets positions it as a formidable player in the energy drink industry.
