Leading research-based biopharmaceutical firm AstraZeneca plc (LON: AZN) was in the limelight after declaring its YTD and Q3 2022 results on Thursday. After delivering a robust performance in the year to date, the business has raised its Core EPS guidance for 2022.
Furthermore, the latest promising figures for the company's pipeline programmes have assured it to carry on with the added late-stage clinical trials. At the same time, it keeps concentrating on fulfilling its growth objectives.

As compared to the pharma giant's prior guidance of a mid-to-high twenties hike, it is now expected that the company's Core EPS at constant exchange rates (CER) for 2022 would go up by a high twenties to low thirties percentage.
The company witnessed a rise of 37% in its total revenues, which stood at US$33,144 million. Alexion, added to the company results from 21 July last year, also supplemented the revenues.
The total revenues for Oncology saw a rise of 24%, while its product sales went up by 20%. There was a 4%, 19%, and 10% hike in the overall revenues from R&I, CVRM, and Rare Disease, respectively.
The Core Gross Margin of the company surged by 6% at CER and stood at 81%, which reflects the smaller revenues from initial Vaxzevria deals and the enhanced stakes of speciality care medications.
There was also a rise of 26% in the Core Total Operating Expenses of the firm, which reflects Alexion's addition, sustained investments in the pipeline and fresh launches to grow sustainably over the long run.
Promising phasing and a good product mix have pushed AstraZeneca's Core Operating Margin by 6%, taking it to 32%. Additionally, the company's Core EPS increased by 52% and reached $5.28.

The company is a constituent of the UK's blue-chip FTSE 100 index and has a market capitalisation of £168,060.58 million as of 10 November. It has given a return of 20.96% on a one-year basis, while its return on YTD (year to date) stood at 29.48%.

At the time of the writing, the pharma business's EPS (earning per share) stood at 0.08, while it had a turnover (on book) of £26,420,384.18.
The annual dividend yield offered by the company stood at 2.3% at the time.
