The United States has decided to support waiving of Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights or TRIPS on Covid-19 vaccines amid mounting pressure from developing countries who have been demanding patent exemptions on items, including vaccines, diagnostic kits and ventilators, to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. In this week’s Beyond Just Money, we discuss Vaccine IP rights and why have developing countries been seeking a waiver for the same.
