New Zealand's largest furniture and homewares retailer Nido will open its doors to the public tomorrow. The new $60m, 27,000 sq m store in West Auckland will carry more than 10,000 product lines and create 180 new jobs in the coming year. The Henderson store is set to rival IKEA.

Dunedin's Kmart store remains closed after apparently changing its mind about an opening date at the last minute. Earlier this week Kmart's New Zealand website had the Dunedin store listed as closed each day this week until today, when it was listed as being open from 8am, and then open with its normal hours over the weekend.

Tower says it will aim to cut costs by $7.2 million per year which includes a proposal for 108y redundancies. The NZX-listed insurer announced the measures after revealing a half-year net profit of $14.9 million for the six months to March 31, up $3m on the same period last year.
