10 NZX dividend stocks to watch out for in September 2021

Dividend stocks are consistent source of income for a risk-averse investor. Dividends give them a sustainable source of income. It may be noted that many New Zealand companies suspended their dividend payments during COVID-19 due to precarious cash-flow situation but now they have resumed their them and some of them have already given one or two dividends in the early part of the year.

Dividend can give additional income to an investor as it is often reinvested through Dividend Reinvestment Plans of the companies.

Against this background, let us look at 10 NZX-listed companies that have their record date at the beginning of September.

Stride Property Group (NZX:SPG)

It’s a real estate management company investing in office, retail and industrial property. It announced two interim dividends of 1.935 cps and 0.53 cps, respectively, to be paid on 9 September 2021. The record date for both dividends is 1 September. The gross yield works out to be 4.789%. The Company has a good dividend-paying history and has been rewarding its shareholders with good interim and final dividends. Last final dividend it paid was in June 2021.

Goodman Property Trust (NZX:GMT, ASX: GMT)

GMT is an infrastructure company operating in Australia and other geographies. It deals with warehousing and management of the real estate sector. GMT announced an interim dividend of 1.375 cps. It will be paid on 16 September 2021 and the record date for the same is 1 September 2021.  The Company has been paying historical dividends almost four times every year - three interim and one final.

Summerset Group Holding Limited (NZX:SUM)

This is a retirement village operator in NZ. On 24 August, in its 1HFY21 results it declared an interim dividend of 9.900 cps to be paid on 20 September 2021. The dividend has no imputation credit and the record date is 6 September 2021.

The Group has been rewarding its shareholders with dividends throughout FY2020, and in 2021, has paid one interim dividend for the first quarter.

Asset Plus Limited (NZX:APL)

 It’s an NZ-based commercial property investment company. It declared an interim dividend of 0.450 cps to be recorded on 3 September 2021. The dividend will be paid on 13 September. The gross dividend yield works out to be more than 5%. The Company has been rewarding its shareholders with good dividends throughout FY2020.

Kingfish Limited (NZX:KFL)

It is an investment firm providing finance for growing NZ companies. KFL’s net asset value as of 25 August 2021 was at NZ $1.8617. The Group will pay its quarterly dividend of 3.52cps on 24 September 2021. The dividend will go ex on 8 September 2021.

Marlin Global Limited (NZX:MLN)

This is an NZ-based investment entity that finances growing global companies.

MLN paid a total of 8.84cps for the year ended 30 June 2021, in line with its quarterly distribution policy of paying 2% of average NAV every quarter. The Company declared an interim dividend of 2.52cps on to be paid on 24 September 2021. The dividend record date for the dividend is 8 September 2021.

 Vector Limited (NZX:VCT)

VCT is NZ’s leading network infrastructure company which runs a diverse portfolio. It declared a final dividend of 8.5 cps imputed at 0.999 cps. The dividend will be paid on 16 September 2021 and the record date for the same is 8 September. Its gross yield works out to be about 5%.

NZ Windfarms Limited (NZX:NWF)

A sustainable energy company declared a final dividend of 0.450 cps to be paid on 22 September. The record date for the dividend is 9 September and the gross dividend yield works out to 5%. The Company has been rewarding the shareholders with dividends in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic.

NZME Limited (NZX:NZM)

An integrated media company in New Zealand, it announced an interim dividend of 3 cps after 2018. The imputation credit attached to the dividend is 1.167 and will be paid on 22 September. The ex-dividend date is 9 September 2021. An investor must note that its gross dividend yield is 0.00%.

NZX Limited (NZX:NZX)

It’s the New Zealand equity, debt and derivatives market operator. It was corporatised a long time back and declared an interim dividend of 3 cps with an imputation credit of 1.167. The record date for the dividend is 9 September 2021 and the payment date is 24 September. The NZX has been paying dividends in FY2020 as well. The last dividend it paid was a final one on 26 March 2021. The gross dividend Yield works out to be 4.6%. 

Bottomline: It’s an earnings season in corporate New Zealand and several companies have announced dividends for their shareholders. Some of the companies have reported high dividend yields as well and surprisingly, many of these companies have remained insulated by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
