The New Year brought some good news for the economy of Marlborough. The region of Marlborough, like other places, saw a downward trend during the mid of 2021.
According to Infometrics December month report, in June 2020, the economy was 14.4% lower than what it was in June 2019. This is the worst decline in the country post Otago.
Though, by the month of September, the region-wise economy grew up a bit. This was 1.4% high as compared to the year of 2019. Experts say, this can be attributed to rise in the consumer spending.
It should be noted that the economy of the state is highly dependent on tourism.
There are reports in several media publications that the tourism is on a return in Marlborough and people are back doing activities which the place is famous for. With many hikers, campers, swimmers, surfers, and shopping enthusiasts returning to the various parts of region, it can be anticipated the sector might get a good boost in the near future.
