Some home improvement constructions to get exemptions from costly consents

In a bid to aid the construction sector to recover from the pandemic's impact quickly, the NZ government has exempted the need for consents for low-risk construction work like sheds, carports, and, sleep-outs. It will make it easier for builders, DIYers, and homeowners to make essential home improvements. These exemptions are going to save kiwis' time and money.

Homeowners will be able to save NZD 18 million of consenting costs annually through the government's new exemptions to the Building Act.
