Ships, Boats Keep Imports Afloat Despite Fall In Imports Of Other Vehicles

As per the Stats NZ, imports increased slightly in June 2020 primarily due to the arrival of the HMNZS Aotearoa in Auckland from Ulsan, South Korea, on 26 June. The buying of the Navy's newest and biggest ship has kept the import totals afloat.

The total merchandise goods imports value changed a little in June 2020 when compared with the same month previous year, up by AUD 11 million (0.2 per cent) to AUD 4.6 billion. However, cars and other vehicles imports continue to fall.
