PGF invests in wildlife sanctuary upgrade

Regional Economic Development Minister Shane Jones announced an investment of NZD 2.5 million for P?kaha National Wildlife Centre. The investment by the Provincial Growth Fund is to expand and develop the centre which is situated in the lower North Island.

It is a successful centre with captive breeding facility comprising 1000ha of native forest. It is crucial to upgrade and protect this asset. The sacred taonga is home to wildlife species like k?kako, k?k?, kiwi, takah?, and longfin eels.
