Over 2000 New Job Opportunities to Clean Up Waterways

The government has announced a package of 23 projects across New Zealand to clean up waterways and these projects are expected to generate more than 2000 jobs.

NZD 162 million packages will be distributed for 22 water clean-up schemes put forward by local councils getting NZD 62 million and Kaipara Moana Remediation Programme getting NZD 100 million to stop the degradation of the Kaipara harbour.

The investment is a part of COVID-19 recovery plan and is funded from the NZD 1.1 billion Jobs for Nature package announced in Budget 2020 that is anticipated to create 11,000 environment jobs.
