NZ's Growing Defence Diplomatic Presence In The Pacific

Defence Minister Ron Mark has announced that New Zealand is increasing its Defence relationships in the Pacific by setting a resident Defence Adviser in the Kingdom of Tonga.

NZ has an old defence relationship with Tonga, which goes back to the era of world war I. At that time, Tongan citizens served in the M?ori and New Zealand army, he said.

NZ's security and wellbeing are linked to the peace and stability of the Tonga pacific as both face the regional security challenges together.
