March Exports Hit a New High, Reflects a Bumper Kiwifruit Harvest

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, March 2020 goods exports saw a massive high, driven by kiwifruit, meat, and dairy.

The total goods value exports rose by 3.8 per cent, NZD 215 million. In March 2020, it reached to NZD 5.8 billion, a record for any month.

Kiwifruit bumper harvesting and higher prices for meat and milk powder contributed to the growth. Fruit exports rose by 54 per cent (NZD 115 million). The country exported kiwifruits for more than three quarters to China, Japan, and the European Union.
