Courgette Prices Jump to Record-High Due to Lack of Supply

In the month of June 2020, the prices of courgette increased by 74 per cent to an all-time high of $21.42 per kilo as imports from Queensland remained prohibited.

Overall vegetable prices were up by 7.6 per cent in the month of June, also affected by seasonally elevated prices for cucumbers, tomatoes, courgettes and lettuce. These increases were compensated by typical falls for winter crops including onions, potatoes, and carrots.

Overall, food prices increased by 0.5 per cent in June, with higher vegetable prices partly compensated by a 1.8 per cent decline in fruit prices.
