Matthew Mott is determined to downplay his own role in highly successful stints with the white-ball squads of Australia's women and England's men.
The former Queensland and Victoria opener is on the verge of coaching World Cup wins in the same year.
In concluding his highly successful seven-year stint, Mott led Australia to Women's ODI World Cup final glory with a commanding victory over England in April.
After achieving everything in the women's game, Mott in June accepted a role with England when they opted to split the coaching roles between the red-ball and white-ball squads.
Former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum has enjoyed immediate success with England's previously underperforming Test squad, while Mott is getting the best out of the talented white-ball teams.
Weather permitting, Mott will on Sunday return to the MCG - the venue for his finest moment in charge of Australia's women - as England face Pakistan in the Twenty20 World Cup final.
Australia retained the Women's T20 trophy with victory over India in the March 2020 final at the MCG in front of a monster crowd of 86,174.
"Over your coaching journey your learn off a lot of other people and reflect a lot," Mott told SEN.
"Being at the right place at the right time is a pretty good strategy.
"I've worked with some outstanding players over my time with the Australian women's team, and this is an incredible generation of white-ball cricketers here with England.
"We have two key players out (in Jonny Bairstow and Jofra Archer) and to be able to be not less off is a great thing."
Despite the core of England's squad being in their 30s and realistically coming towards the end of their careers, Mott and T20 captain Jos Buttler believe they can keep challenging in big tournaments.
"Hopefully I've got more time ahead of myself as a captain, and with Matthew Mott we can hopefully shape the next era of English white-ball cricket," Buttler told reporters on Saturday.
"We're still reaping the rewards of (former captain) Eoin Morgan's tenure and the changes that have happened in the white-ball game in England.
"We're very much right in the back of that wave, but there's a bit of a new direction as well."
