Highlights
- Graphite One has released results from independent analysis confirming the presence of rare earth elements (REEs) within the Graphite Creek deposit in Alaska.
- Independent testing has shown that magnet and heavy rare earths account for 85% of total REEs in garnet material.
- Dysprosium, yttrium, and scandium were identified at elevated concentrations in garnet fractions.
- The company has outlined a 2026 REE testing program with a U.S. National Laboratory.
Graphite One Inc. (TSXV:GPH) (OTCQX:GPHOF) has reported findings from independent analysis confirming the presence of rare earth elements (REEs) at its Graphite Creek deposit in Alaska. The results add a new layer of detail to the mineral profile of the project, highlighting the occurrence of REEs alongside graphite mineralisation.
The testing has identified elevated levels of magnet and heavy rare earth elements (HREEs) in garnet material extracted from drill core samples.
The samples were taken from areas within the anticipated pit outlined in the G1’s Feasibility Study completed in February 2025.
According to the company, the findings suggest that REE recovery could potentially occur alongside graphite extraction during the early years of mining operations, subject to further evaluation.
Independent Analysis and Key Findings
The testing program was conducted by Activation Laboratory (ActLabs) of Ancaster, Canada, using bulk rock geochemical analysis and mineral separation techniques. Results indicate that Graphite Creek hosts a higher proportion of magnet REEs and HREEs relative to light rare earth elements (LREEs).
Garnets were identified as the primary host mineral for the elevated HREE content. ActLabs reported that approximately 85% of the REEs contained within the garnet material fall into the magnet or heavy rare earth categories.
Specific elemental concentrations within the garnets included dysprosium ranging from 32 to 63 parts per million (ppm), yttrium from 198 to 427 ppm, and scandium between 84 and 141 ppm. These elements are considered critical inputs for permanent magnets and other advanced technologies.
Management Commentary
“While these results are preliminary, they are clearly promising. Few rare earth deposits have such a strong presence of magnet and Heavy Rare Earths. With Graphite Creek already confirmed by the USGS as the nation’s largest natural graphite deposit ‘and among the largest in the world,’ the presence of 14 magnet or Heavy Rare Earths at Graphite Creek further confirms that ours is a generational deposit for the tech applications transforming our world,” said Anthony Huston, CEO of Graphite One.

Strategic Context and Supply Considerations
The announcement comes against a backdrop of increased focus on critical mineral supply chains. China, the world’s largest producer of rare earths, imposed export limits on magnet REEs in February 2024 and tightened graphite export controls in December 2024. These measures have drawn attention to alternative sources of supply.
Graphite Creek REE Testing Program and Next Steps
Further insight into the mineralisation was provided by G1’s geological team. Kirsten Fristad, Chief Geologist at Graphite One, said that the garnets, which can be as large as marbles, appear to be the dominant hosts for heavy rare earth elements and are expected to inform the company’s testing program as it moves into 2026. Fristad added that the results suggest that separating an ore sample into garnet material and the remaining components would show the garnets carrying REE concentrations two to six times higher than the rest of the rock.
Garnet grains were mechanically separated from crushed drill core samples at the University of Alaska Fairbanks before being analysed by ActLabs.
Based on these outcomes, Graphite One plans to work with a U.S. National Laboratory to evaluate methods for extracting REEs from the garnet material.
Shares of GPH last traded at CAD 1.96 on December 24, 2025.
