S&P Global and IHS Markit have entered into a merger agreement to combine in an all-stock transaction. The enterprise value of IHS Markit is around USD 44 billion, which includes USD 4.8 billion of net debt. S&P Global is a provider of credit rating and benchmarks in the global capital & commodity market. IHS Markit provides analytics and information solutions to major industries.
The transaction would be accretive to earnings, and it will provide cost synergies of around USD 480 million and revenue synergies of about USD 350 million. By the second half of 2021, the transaction is expected to be executed. It would be interesting to see how both companies make way for regulatory approvals to complete the transaction.
