Currently, the only hope the world is seeing to come out of this pandemic is a vaccine. Billions of dollars have been spent across the globe to develop and test vaccine candidates, and governments are doing their absolute best to secure the highest possible doses. Recently, the health minister Mr. Greg Hunt MP announced joining the COVAX facility, enabling Australia to access a large portfolio of COVID-19 vaccines as and when developed.
* So, what are the vaccine agreements that Australia is betting on? Vaccine from AstraZeneca is one of the most progressed and promising out there. And after the approval of the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), a total of 3.8 million doses will be secured by Australia in early 2021. ASX-listed biotech company CSL Limited has also started the manufacturing of the AstraZeneca-Oxford COVID-19 vaccine from November 9 onwards. The manufacturing process has commenced even as the candidate is currently at its final phase of trials and has not been approved by the regulators in Australia.
