Shares tumbled in opening trade on Wednesday, following a decline for US stocks. It seems that the investors reduced risk, helping spur higher yields for US government bonds before expected interest rates increase later this year. The S&P/ASX 200 Index plunged 0.7 per cent in the opening minutes of trade. All 11 sharemarket sectors declined, led by the tech sector, which fell 1.6 per cent.
