Highlights
- Tempest Minerals reports high-grade iron findings at Remorse target in Western Australia.
- Drilling reveals consistent magnetite mineralisation across two kilometres.
- Laboratory assays expected in December to confirm preliminary results.
Tempest Minerals (ASX:TEM) has announced encouraging results from its reverse circulation (RC) drilling campaign at the Remorse target, part of the Yalgoo Project in Western Australia. The initial findings indicate significant magnetite-hosted iron mineralisation, positioning the project as a potential large-scale iron ore deposit.
Drilling Yields High-Grade Iron Intersections
Tempest recently completed the first phase of RC drilling at the Remorse target, encompassing 21 drill holes over 4,005 metres. Portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF) analyses have revealed notable results, including intersections of:
- 16 metres at 32.6% iron from 93 metres;
- 20 metres at 32.3% iron from 120 metres and 11 metres at 30.8% iron from 182 metres;
- 7 metres at 32.8% iron from 96 metres (lab-confirmed); and
- 8 metres at 30.1% iron from 130 metres.
These results build upon earlier discoveries, such as a 32-metre intersection at 30% iron from 96 metres, including 7 metres at 37% iron. While pXRF data is indicative, laboratory assays—expected in December—are anticipated to confirm the high-grade nature of the findings.
Potential for Large-Scale Deposit
The drilling program has identified a consistent and continuous magnetite-rich formation extending over two kilometres. Geological mapping suggests this zone may stretch up to five kilometres. The rock's medium-grained and equigranular characteristics could facilitate efficient beneficiation and production of high-grade iron concentrates, boosting the project's viability.
The Remorse target lies in proximity to multiple world-class iron ore operations, enhancing confidence in the region's resource potential.
Future Steps for Development
Tempest plans to take several steps to build on these promising results, including:
- Finalising the analysis of drilling data and receiving laboratory assay results;
- Conducting metallurgical testing to assess beneficiation potential;
- Planning additional drilling to refine and expand high-grade mineralisation; and
- Exploring other prospective zones within the Yalgoo Project.
