ASX Gains 0.89% as Technology Sector Leads the Way

The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) ended today’s session on a positive note, rising by 0.89% to close at 8,403 points. Over the past five sessions, the index has shown a 1.43% increase and remains 0.86% below its 52-week peak.  

Technology One Outshines with Impressive Results  

Technology One (ASX:TNE) emerged as the top-performing stock, jumping 10.84% to $29.66. The surge followed the release of its full-year results for 2024, highlighting an 18% rise in profit to $152.9 million. The company's Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) also showed a robust 20% growth, reaching $470.2 million.  

Elders Records a Notable Decline  

Elders (ASX:ELD) saw the largest drop, falling by 10.06% to $7.78. This decline followed the company’s announcement of completing an Institutional Entitlement Offer, which raised $143 million. Despite the positive fundraising, the market reacted negatively to the news.  

Sector-Wide Gains  

All sectors on the ASX closed higher today. The Information Technology sector was the standout performer, gaining 3.12%. WiseTech Global (ASX:WTC) added 2.37%, while Xero (ASX:XRO) climbed 3.71%, bolstering the sector's performance.  

The Communication Services sector followed with a 1.52% gain, while the Energy sector also advanced by 1.45%, reflecting broad-based positive sentiment across industries.  

Strong Moves Among Small Caps  

The small-cap space also witnessed notable activity. Olympio Metals Ltd (ASX:OLY) skyrocketed by 76.5%, trading at $0.06 following positive news. Discovery Alaska Ltd (ASX:DAF) gained 38.46% to reach $0.018, while Firebird Metals Ltd (ASX:FRB) surged by 37.37% to $0.125.
