Highlights

  • Asian Battery Metals identifies multiple shallow conductive plates at Oval Cu-Ni discovery

  • Drilling to resume alongside expanded EM surveys targeting deeper mineralised structures

  • High-priority targets mapped across Oval, MS1, MS2 and Quartz Hill zones

Asian Battery Metals PLC (ASX:AZ9), listed on the All Ordinaries, is preparing to resume drilling at its flagship copper-nickel project in southern Mongolia. The renewed activity follows promising outcomes from the company’s ongoing SAMSON fixed-loop electromagnetic (FLEM) program, which has identified several high-conductivity zones across multiple exploration targets.

The Oval discovery and its surrounding areas, including MS1, MS2 and Quartz Hill, will form the focus of upcoming geophysical surveys and drilling phases.

Priority Conductors Detected at Oval and Surrounding Zones

The company’s SAMSON FLEM survey has modelled a total of 29 conductive plates, with six of these marked as Priority-1 targets due to favourable geological features and strong electromagnetic signatures. These plates were primarily identified within the North Oval and Oval gabbroic zones, where shallow conductors correlate with magnetic highs and known structural trends.

Each of these conductors aligns with regions previously intersected by drilling, interpreted as massive sulphide mineralisation or mineralised gabbro bodies. Their shallow positioning enhances accessibility for immediate testing through resumed drilling activity.

Geophysical Modelling Supports Multiple Target Corridors

The EM campaign incorporated varied loop sizes to cover distinct zones — including the Oval, Central, MS1 and Quartz Hill areas. Overlapping results from both small and large loop configurations have increased modelling confidence. Anomalies impacted by super-paramagnetism or signal interference are being reassessed using refined EM configurations.

In the South Area, a corridor with elevated magnetic signatures yielded five conductive plates, two of which are classified as Priority-1. These lie within a northwest-southeast structural trend, pointing to potential parallel mineralised zones adjacent to the Oval discovery.

To the west, additional plates have been identified within a low-resistivity corridor supported by previous IP survey data. These targets sit along magnetic highs influenced by structural controls and will undergo further evaluation through upcoming geophysical investigations.

Next-Phase Work Program in Focus

Asian Battery Metals plans to commence its next round of drilling in August, with a focus on testing the most compelling electromagnetic anomalies identified to date. The company will also undertake downhole electromagnetic (DHEM) surveys to validate and expand target definitions.

Additional moving-loop EM (MLEM) and fixed-loop EM surveys are scheduled to run concurrently, focusing on deeper structures and underexplored step-out targets. Complementary ground magnetic datasets are being processed to refine targeting at MS2.
