Reward Minerals Ltd (ASX:RWD) has announced a major acquisition, securing the Beyondie Potash Plant in Western Australia for $2.13 million, excluding GST. This acquisition, secured at a fraction of the replacement cost, is set to significantly enhance Reward’s ability to expand its potassium sulphate (SOP) production operations, positioning the company as a promising ASX mining stock.
The Beyondie Potash Plant comes with a fully constructed processing plant, complete with administration offices, maintenance infrastructure, and essential plant components. These include a KTMS crushing circuit, Kainite conversion circuit, flotation equipment, and advanced cooling systems. This strategic acquisition positions Reward to integrate these assets into its Carnarvon Potash Project, potentially at a much lower capital cost than previously projected.
CEO Lorry Hughes highlighted the importance of this acquisition, describing it as “potentially transformative” for the company. The transaction will allow Reward to update its 2023 Engineering Scoping Study (ESS) with the newly acquired plant, which could lower costs significantly and drive commercial success. The Carnarvon Potash Project, aimed at producing 100,000 tonnes per annum of potassium sulphate, has already demonstrated the potential for one of the lowest production costs in the industry, estimated at $273 per tonne, excluding contingencies.
Hughes emphasized the opportunity for Reward to leverage existing solar salt operations in Western Australia, potentially forming partnerships that could reshape the landscape of SOP production in Australia. The use of reject brines from established salt operations provides an innovative approach that could further reduce costs and increase efficiency.
The ESS update will also evaluate new processing technologies under development, which could help Reward determine the most attractive potassium sulphate product to bring to market. The acquisition of the Beyondie Potash Plant marks another key milestone in Reward's pursuit of commercializing its cutting-edge processing technology.
In partnership with established salt producers, Reward Minerals is well-positioned to make a significant impact on the SOP industry, with the Beyondie acquisition serving as a crucial step towards realizing these goals.
