Highlights

  • Resouro Strategic Metals Ltd aims for maximum extraction of high-value minerals with minimal environmental impact.
  • Recent testwork achieved 96.2% extraction of magnetic rare earth elements from its Tiros ore.
  • A new 200kg test program is underway to optimize leaching processes for TiO2 and REE products.

Resouro Strategic Metals Ltd (ASX:RAU) is making significant strides in its quest to extract high-value rare earth elements (REE) from its Tiros ore in Brazil. Building on the success of recent sighter test work, which achieved an impressive 96.2% extraction rate of magnetic rare earth elements, the company, as an ASX mining stock, is preparing for a larger-scale test program designed to maximize mineral recovery while minimizing environmental impact.

Recent Achievements in Testwork

The earlier sighter testwork established a critical benchmark for assessing the ease of metal extraction from the ore, proving the concept of efficient mineral recovery. This work utilized 50kg samples from Tiros, showcasing the highest known REE extractions on non-selective ore intervals.

Currently, a new 200kg representative composite sample has been prepared for testing at Altilium’s Brisbane lab. This phase aims to optimize leaching parameters and downstream processes over approximately 30 weeks. Updates on the progress will be shared as the testing advances.

Market Interest and Financial Assessment

Resouro has received multiple unsolicited inquiries from large industrial firms across Asia, Europe, and North America regarding TiO2 and REE products. Preliminary discussions with some potential offtakers are already underway, indicating strong market interest in the company’s offerings.

The upcoming testwork results will be critical for updating Resouro’s financial model, which will be included in the Preliminary Economic Assessment. Additional tests will further refine the process flow sheet and optimize leaching conditions.

Commitment to Environmental Sustainability

Altilium’s patented Ti/REE process offers a promising solution by generating zero waste through a sustainable, closed-circuit leach process, eliminating the need for a tailings dam. This environmentally friendly approach aligns with Resouro’s commitment to minimizing its ecological footprint.

Chris Eager, Resouro’s president and CEO, expressed optimism regarding the initial test results, stating they validate the company’s ability to achieve high REE extraction rates. The focus remains on identifying the most environmentally sustainable and cost-effective leaching methods.

Strategic Expansion of Tiros Project

In addition to advancements in extraction methods, Resouro has finalized the 100% acquisition of three mineral rights adjacent to the Sao Gotardo block of the Tiros project. This strategic move consolidates the company’s presence in the highly prospective Capacete Formation, enhancing its potential for future discoveries.

Eager emphasized the importance of this acquisition, noting that the contiguous nature of the assets will be beneficial as Resouro continues to explore and develop its projects in this promising area. The company’s ongoing efforts aim to unlock the full potential of Tiros while maintaining a strong commitment to environmental responsibility.
