Highlights
- Strong drilling outcomes at Araxá Project
- New discovery zone east of existing resource
- Elevated levels of high-value rare earths identified
A Powerful Step Forward
St George Mining (ASX:SGQ) has ignited strong momentum with its latest drilling outcomes at the Araxá Project in Brazil, delivering results that reinforce its presence across the resource sector beyond the ASX 200. The company confirmed high-grade rare earths and niobium mineralisation from surface, further validating the significance of this project.
Strengthening Araxá with Early Results
The initial round of assays from shallow reverse circulation drilling confirmed widespread mineralisation. Findings revealed continuity of rare earths and niobium, underscoring Araxá’s positioning among notable global rare earth projects. This mineralisation, hosted in carbonatite, supports the existing resource base while presenting additional upside potential.
Emerging Discovery Zone
Adding to the optimism, auger drilling east of the defined resource indicated the presence of a significant new zone of mineralisation. The discovery not only broadens the mineral footprint but also suggests strong continuity at depth. Reverse circulation drilling has already commenced in this eastern area to assess the scale of this newly identified system.
High-Value Rare Earths Confirmed
Beyond grade confirmation, drilling also revealed elevated concentrations of neodymium and praseodymium, critical components in permanent magnet technology for electric vehicles and wind energy systems. These elements, along with increased levels of other heavy rare earths such as terbium and dysprosium, further enhance the project’s strategic importance on a global scale.
Focus on Growth and Scale
The latest outcomes underline the Araxá Project’s potential to support both resource expansion and long-term development. With multiple drill rigs currently advancing exploration programs, the project continues to gain traction as an emerging source of rare earths outside traditional markets. Mineralisation starting at surface, combined with favourable operating conditions, highlights the scope for Araxá to evolve as a significant contributor to the sector.
Looking Ahead
With an extensive drilling campaign underway, further updates are expected as assays are processed in stages. The company’s efforts remain focused on upgrading its resource base while unlocking the scale of newly defined mineralisation, positioning Araxá as a project of growing importance in the global rare earths landscape.
