OD6 Metals (ASX:OD6) has taken an important step in strengthening its position within the copper industry by successfully acquiring the Gulf Creek Copper Project, an exciting volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposit located in New South Wales, close to the town of Barraba. This strategic acquisition provides OD6 with a valuable asset situated in a region with a rich history of copper mining.

The Gulf Creek Copper Project, which was operational around the turn of the 20th century, holds historical significance as one of New South Wales' highest grade copper mines, producing copper at a remarkable 2% to 6.5% grade before its closure in 1912 due to economic factors and declining copper prices. Notably, the project has been relatively untouched by modern exploration practices for over a century, offering OD6 an opportunity to apply state-of-the-art exploration technologies and unlock potential untapped resources.

To complete the acquisition, OD6 Metals issued 6 million shares and made a cash payment of $150,000, satisfying all conditions precedent. Additionally, the company reimbursed $48,000 for an environmental bond, which was transferred into the name of Gulf Creek Copper, a fully owned subsidiary of OD6. The acquisition establishes a strong foothold for the company to explore and develop the site further.

Gulf Creek shows great potential for further exploration, with mineralisation linked to magnetite deposits. Initial geophysical surveys have revealed compelling data, including over 3km of untested strike within the immediate mine-stratigraphy. This opens up significant opportunities for both greenfields and brownfields exploration across the site, as the strike continues for more than 10km across the tenement area. These promising signs suggest a high likelihood of discovering additional copper resources, positioning OD6 as a company to watch in the growing copper sector.

OD6 Metals is focused on advancing its exploration and development efforts within the critical minerals sector, with an emphasis on rare earths and copper. The company also holds promising assets in Western Australia, with significant rare earths projects at Splinter Rock and Grass Patch. This broad-based approach enhances OD6's potential to capitalize on the growing demand for critical minerals.

With the completion of this acquisition, OD6 Metals takes an important step in its strategy to expand its resource portfolio and increase its standing in the exploration sector.
